Growing Apart

If we don’t grow together then we will grow apart
But we don’t have to be together to grow together
Because when I say grow together I mean grow closer

People growing together can grow apart
Because they don’t have to be apart to grow apart
For when I say they grow apart I mean lose connection

Of course we will both change
I am not the same boy you first started dating
And you are not the same girl

We are still close, closer than we have ever been
Because we have shared our growth
Our growth meaning our individual changes

We can still share our growth even though we are apart
And thus we can still grow together
We can paint pictures and share dreams

You were the one that changed me most
You pulled me out of my world, you called it my shell
And if it was alive you would’ve named it Jeffry

I digress, but to get back on track I’ll repeat
If we grow together then we won’t grow apart
Because some people touching are still millions of miles away

A tree dies when it stops reaching for the sun
I plan to keep on striving to brush against it
So I guess all it leaves is a simple question

Will you meet me at the top?
